Sound is a very important for creating atmosphere in films. sound can be diagetic, where it is included in the context of the film, or non diagetic, where it is separate from the film .
Diagetic sound: are atmospheric noises such as crunching of leafs , blowing of wind or the sound of the rain. this is used so the audience can imerse themselves with the movie.
None-diagetic: this type of sound are things such as background music or voice overs. this could be used to make atmosphere and contrast.
In the first scene Maude is unable to express her deep feelings for sue, the voice over references how "beautiful" sue is and then goes onto think about sues dilemma. I personally believe the voice of shows what she is thinking in her head because she is unable to say out loud what her true intentions are, she has sworn herself to secrecy due to the fear of getting herself & sue hurt.

Codes and Conventions
Codes are signs that are shown to give meaning to things in media, these codes can come under two categories they are symbolic or technical .
Technical codes: are the way the equipment is used to create meaning in media. an example would be camera work in a advert.
Symbolic codes: shows the hidden signes beneath the surface for the audience to see. for example colourful clothing to show a happy and jolly personality.
conventions: are ways of doing things in acceptable way, there are convections in any medium, for example, the use of interview qoutes in a print article, but conventions are genre specific.
Codes and convections are normally used together in any study of genere. you cant really talk about codes and not exsplain how they conventially work, for example you can pick out the camera work and not exsplain why it was done.

Props: boxing poster
This is one of the major props we will be using in our movie "fight night". It shows our protagonist David Star going up against our antagonist boxing champion "the tank", who will be played by me. The poster was created by joe using photoshop with some of photos he took of me and Dylan posing with boxing stances. All of the information and text on the page is fictional.

This may need to be adjusted depending on how long it is in actual speaking time as it needs to match the length of the clips. It also needs fit in with the soundtrack and be at the right volume to get a good ratio between diegetic and non-diegtic sound. Too loud and it drowns out the soundtrack nd too quiet it doesn't have the same impact.
