Location Rec

These are two potential locations for our film to be filmed due to the strong connection these places could have to our story line, a boxing gym where we could collect shots of our main character David training and shots in Bellingham Park of him jogging around the fields. The locations will match the expected codes and conventions of our film's genre and make it more authentic. We wanted the boxing gym as it will be used as a symbol of david's stength and composure as well as it being rusty and rundown symbolises the characters struggle to success. The park on the other hand is large, unlike david highlighting his powerlessness towards the situation ahead, also the night sets a mysterious feel to the park as things will be hidden in the dark. Many films use this nightime setting to forshadow a bad situation ahead.

Raging bulls shows the more emotional and dramatic sides of sport/action thriller films. is dose not actually show what we want for our film, but it gave us alot of good ideas for editing and camera action in our film. But this film dose show the concept of hardship, struggle and loss just like we are looking for in our movie.

rocky iv

rocky iv is very similar to our movie task it has basically all the things we are looking to put into ours such as boxing training, revenge, dramatic scenes and spine chilling action.

we based our story line on the same makings of rocky iv, due to the share fact that rocky was major movie hit. Also we have emotion in our film which plays a big part in rocky as rocky loses his best friend to his future enemy and in our film, david loses five years of his life to his enemy oscar.

Preliminary Task

This is the short film that we created for our preliminary task, we was unable to finish filming due to the location being occupied by a class of students half way through filming.

Questionnaire

Our group asked 10 participants to fill out a questionairre based on the target audience of specific films. The questionnaire would act to give an accurate reading on who our target audience would be and what their expectations of genre and our film would be. The results will be analysed and I will post a summary of the responses at a later date.

My Film's Age Rating

I believe my film should be rated a 15 due to the content it contains such as strong language, sexual scenes, nudity and strong violence. one of the key plots of the narative is the rape scene in the park although we do sway the camera away from the scene when it starts to get extreme to give the audience a sense of mystery. There will moderate violence in a sparring seen there some blood splatter from an oponents mouth. How ever the scene with strongest violence would when our main character david gets involved in a violent altercation in which a knife is pulled out and use against him. This scene would be tried to make as realistic as possible so this would make a traumatic sequence.

Soundtrack Ideas

 

This song is on the film Rocky what was a major leading action/drama boxing film so I believe it will go good with my film but however I believe this track may be too overused and predictable.

                         I believe this would be a better song for my film because it's a more modern song and is would work well to create tension and drama within the scenes. I also believe the editing of the scenes could be in time with the songs rhythm which would work well.

Working Storyboard

This my group's initial story board, it shows the first few shots of my film which be collected soon. These shots basically introduce the character and display him doing his normal morning routine, this will be edited to music and in a particular style that matches the genre conventions.
